Sean O’Malley Record 203e1u
Sean O’Malley turned professional back in March 2015 with a debut victory against Josh Reyes in Great Falls, Montana. Since then, O’Malley has had another 20 professional MMA fights, winning all but three of them (one NC, two losses).
Despite only having had 22 fights, O’Malley’s career has been nothing short of magnificent to date. The American MMA phenom now boasts a record of 18-3. Of these 18 victories, he has won 13 of them inside the distance. ‘Suga’ has 12 KO/TKO wins under his belt, as one submission victory.
His career up to now has been sensational, and he has barely even got started. Three fights ago, Sean O’Malley became UFC Bantamweight Champion at the first time of asking as he emphatically stopped long-reigning king Aljamain Sterling for his 135-pound strap at UFC 292.
O’Malley was understandably the underdog to become UFC champion at the first time of asking. As the long-reigning champion and proven fighter, Aljamain Sterling was the favorite. However, ‘Suga’ upset the apple cart, winning UFC gold at the first time of asking.
After becoming UFC champion, Sean O’Malley’s net worth began to increase at a rapid rate. This is down to the multi-million dollar purses he was now receiving as the king of the 135-pound division and one of the most popular fighters on the entire UFC roster.

As previously mentioned, Sean O’Malley made his professional MMA debut over 10 years ago. He was on an Intense Championship Fighting card where he made the perfect start to his career by winning via Round 1 knockout. O’Malley then had six more fights as a pro MMA fighter before g a deal with the UFC.
‘Suga’ had his first UFC fight on Dana White’s Contender Series, earning himself a full UFC contract after yet another Round 1 knockout. This meant Sean O’Malley’s record was 8-0 with seven stoppages, including six big wins via KO/TKO.
The 30-year-old then had three more UFC fights before suffering the first defeat of his professional MMA career. O’Malley fought Chito Vera at UFC 252 and was the overriding favourite to keep up his unbeaten streak.
However, Vera pulled off the shock upset, knocking ‘Suga’ out in Round 1 of their fight. That fight of course set up the narrative of the UFC 299 main event, which saw Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera and Sean O’Malley rematch for the UFC Bantamweight Title.
After suffering the first defeat of his career, Sean O’Malley got back to winning ways at UFC 260. The divisive MMA character knocked out Thomas Almeida in Round 3 of their bout, earning a ‘Performance Of The Night’ bonus in the process.
This is just one of O’Malley’s eight career UFC bonuses.
Sean O’Malley then notched up another two knockout victories over Kris Moutinho and Raulian Paiva, before the contentious no-contest fight with Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276. O’Malley accidentally poked Munhoz in the eye, hence why the fight was deemed a NC.

After that, the American MMA phenom took on former UFC champion Petr Yan at UFC 280. O’Malley went into the fight as an underdog, but produced a sensational performance to win via split decision. That set up his maiden shot at UFC gold next against Aljamain Sterling.
At UFC 292 O’Malley stepped up to the plate to become UFC champion at the first time of asking. He knocked ‘Aljo’ out in Round 2 of their bout, thus becoming the 135-pound king at the first time of asking. A special performance from a special fighter.
Then came his first UFC Bantamweight Title defence. ‘Suga’ comprehensively beat Chito Vera via wide unanimous decision, avenging the only loss on his record in style.
However, O’Malley then lost the 135-pound strap as he was comprehensively defeated by Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 306 at the Sphere in Las Vegas.
After a layoff where he recovered from injury, Sean O’Malley’s next fight was of course the Dvalishvili rematch last time out at UFC 316. Once again, it didn’t quite go to plan, with Merab this time submitting ‘Suga’ in Round 3 of their UFC Bantamweight Title contest.
In the lead up to the Dvalishvili rematch at UFC 316, O’Malley had been spending more time focusing on training, as well as spending time with his beloved wife and children. Despite these changes, the fight still didn’t go to plan.
O’Malley will undoubtedly continue to fight, perhaps in contests against the likes of Umar Nurmagomedov or Cory Sandhagen before having another run at the 135-pound belt. That takes us up to now in the career of ‘Suga’ Sean O’Malley.
